Ho Chi Minh City, July 9th 2016 – According to VietnamWorks’ analysis of IT jobs from 2015 up to now, the IT recruitment market seems to be slowing down. However, with many important recruitment events coming up, such as the technology and IT job fair TECH EXPO 2016, the market is expected to be back to its impressive growth during the second half of 2016.

1. IT recruitment demand slows its growth rate

Regarding recruitment demand, the number of IT jobs including Software and Hardware rose 6% compared to last year; more specifically, Software jobs increased 14% and Hardware jobs increased 6%. However, compared to 2012 – 2015 numbers, where we saw IT-Software increased 47% on average, the latest numbers show a slowdown of the IT recruitment market.

2. Remarkable growth in IT labor supply

Regarding labor supply, the first 6 months of 2015 witnessed a decrease of 6% compared to the same period of 2014; in 2016,  that figure jumped to 40% compared to 2015. It shows that IT labor supply is growing faster and bridging the gap between supply and demand in recent years.

VietnamWorks data showed that the figure of IT labor supply had increased wildly by 63% in the second half of 2015, compared to the first 6 months of that year. If this trend persists, we can expect that the IT labor force in the last 6 months of 2016 could achieve a similar growth rate.

3. What to expect for the last 6 months of 2016

While other industries tend to recruit at the beginning of the year, IT jobs concentrate at the end of the year. With this tendency, we can hope that both supply and demand will increase significantly in the second half of 2016.

To some extent, the incredible growth of the IT recruitment market in the last half of 2015 is the debut of TECH EXPO 2015, an event organized in both Hồ Chí Minh City and Hà Nội, November 2015. The event attracted 60 IT companies and more than 2,500 IT professionals.

Following the success of the previous event, TECH EXPO will be returning in Hà Nội, September 17th 2016 and in Hồ Chí Minh City, October 1st 2016. The event is the combination of online recruitment with offline job fair event where IT candidates in Vietnam have a chance to discover and join not only local but also international well-known IT companies.
