• Salary and benefits remain the leading reason for job changes (29%) and the 1st priority when applying for a new job (62%).

 Episode 2: Turning Challenges into Opportunities – Career Development Outlook for Accounting & Auditing in the New Era

While Episode 1 highlights the challenges facing the labor market, Episode 2 addresses one of the industry’s most pressing questions: “How will career pathways in Accounting & Auditing evolve in the era of AI and digital transformation?”

Developed based on a nationwide survey of 1,006 professionals conducted by HAA, VACPA, UEH College of Business, Smart Train Academy and Navigos Group, the report reveals that the Accounting & Auditing industry offers a broad career ecosystem, clear advancement pathways, and evolving competencies that are becoming increasingly important in the industry.

Key Findings from Episode 2:

• The Accounting & Auditing industry encompasses 21 distinct career domains, and 60% of professionals have worked across more than two domains during their careers.
• More than 76% are promoted to Team Leader within 4 years; 62.9% advance to Manager within the next 4 years; and 35.5% reach Director-level within a further 4 years.
• At the Director level, decision-making capability (94%) and cross-functional thinking (91.2%) become more important than purely expertise. This is the level where professionals are expected to embrace the role of “Finance as a Navigator” to support strategic decision-making by senior leadership.
• Professionals with experience who have not yet entered management positions often experience the greatest career stagnation and development pressure. However, once they progress into management roles, career satisfaction increases significantly—reaching 65% among Managers and 72.7% among Directors.
• Advanced professional training is becoming a critical factor in helping professionals strengthen capabilities, expand career opportunities, and adapt to evolving market demands.
